How to connect Google Search Console

Bring clicks, impressions, queries and index status from Google Search into seops.

Google Search Console is Google's free tool for site owners. It shows which searches your site appeared in, how many clicks you got, which pages are indexed and which errors Google sees. seops reads it through a service account you add to your property; nothing is typed, every step is a click.

What opens in seops

  • 4 · Tracking › Search performance › Google: clicks, impressions, CTR, average position, opportunity queries
  • 2 · Health › Indexing › Google index: which pages Google has and which it dropped, with the reason
  • Sitemaps submitted from the panel
  • Weekly summary and automatic tasks

Steps

  1. Open Search Console

Sign in with your Google account. If the site is already there, skip to step 3.

  2. Add the site

In the property picker (top left) click Add property. Choose Domain, type example.com without https and click Continue. If your DNS is on Cloudflare, Google usually verifies automatically with Start verification; otherwise add the TXT record it shows under Cloudflare → DNS and click Verify.

  3. Give seops's service account access

In Search Console open Settings → Users and permissions → Add user. Paste the service account email that seops shows in the Search Console step of the setup wizard and under the Search Console property field in Settings › Project settings › General. Permission: Full (needed only to submit sitemaps; Restricted works for reports). Click Add.

  4. Pick the property in seops

In seops open Settings › Project settings › General and enter the property in the Search Console property field (sc-domain:example.com for a domain property, https://example.com/ for a URL-prefix property). Save.

  5. Check

Open 4 · Tracking › Search performance › Google in seops. Data arrives within seconds. For a brand-new property Google itself needs 2–3 days to publish the first numbers.

How to use it in seops

  • 4 · Tracking › Search performance › Google: Queries / Pages tabs and opportunity queries
  • 2 · Health › Indexing › Google index: page status and sitemaps
  • Hover a row to exclude or copy the query or page

Questions

"No access to this property"

The service account from step 3 is missing or was added to a different property. The property seops shows must match Search Console exactly.

Sitemap submission fails

The permission is Restricted, not Full. Change it under Users and permissions.

Is the service account shared?

Yes, one account serves every seops user, but data is shown only to the account that verified ownership of the domain. You can remove the permission in Search Console at any time.

Start with one site, free

The first site is free forever and asks for no card. Every extra site is $2.50 a month.
