How to connect Bing Webmaster Tools
Bring Bing clicks, impressions and crawl data into seops. Bing is the index behind ChatGPT search and Copilot.
Bing Webmaster Tools is Microsoft's free site tool. ChatGPT search, Copilot and Yahoo results largely come from the Bing index, which makes it the foundation of AI visibility. One API key covers every site in your Bing account.
Do first: How to connect Google Search Console
What opens in seops
- 4 · Tracking › Search performance › Bing: clicks, impressions, queries, pages, crawl errors
- Average Bing position per query (from Bing Webmaster)
- IndexNow for instant notification of changed pages
Steps
-
Open Bing Webmaster
Sign in with a Microsoft, Google or Facebook account.
-
Import sites from Search Console
On My Sites choose Import (from Google Search Console), approve your Google account, tick the sites and click Import. Verification and sitemaps come across automatically.
-
Create an API key
Top right Settings (gear) → API access → API Key → Generate. Copy it. One key works for every site in the account.
-
Paste the key in seops
In seops open Account › Setup, paste the key in the Connect Bing Webmaster step and press Check (no such step? use Change the stack or features). seops verifies it and stores it encrypted; afterwards only the last 4 characters show under Settings › Project settings › Saved keys.
-
Check
Open 4 · Tracking › Search performance › Bing in seops. Bing rate-limits requests, so the first report can take up to an hour; seops retries by itself and keeps partial reports.
How to use it in seops
- 4 · Tracking › Search performance › Bing: traffic and crawl charts, queries, pages
- 2 · Health › Indexing › IndexNow: send queued pages spread over time
Questions
Does the key let seops change anything in Bing?
A Bing key technically allows URL submission too; seops only reads reports and never uses that.
